My 4th trip to the US was a
painful one. I had just spent five weeks in the UK looking to
start a business and trying to get finance from a number of
different banks.
Only one bank took an interest
in my idea, but said I needed to work on my business plan some
more before they could consider me for a loan. Being so far
apart from Ling-Ling was getting to me. I could not focus on
my business idea and had to be reunited with my wife.
Ling-Ling approved. She said she
was feeling lonely and we agreed to be together in the US and
I would work on my idea there. Then perhaps we could leave
together and set-up our future in the UK.
But while in the US, I could not
find somewhere where we could live together. Ling-Ling had to
work in Portland and being stuck in Eugene, the only place I
could find somewhere to live at a reasonable cost (at
CarolLee's house).
I spent my entire stay looking
for somewhere to live, while at the same time struggling to
get my business idea to work due to the distance between
myself and my wife. I was restless and unfocussed. I only got
to see Ling-Ling every other weekend and this was preying upon
my mind. When I got to Portland to spend some time with her, I
would be running around all day long, trying to find somewhere
to live.
Before I knew it, it was time to
leave the US again. This would be in October. This three
months seems to have been a complete waste of time.
